Licensing

You are welcome to quote, copy, translate and build on what I publish here. The one condition that applies to everything on this page:

Name me as “MaxClerkwell” and link back to the original on maxclerkwell.tech. This holds for verbatim copies and for derived works alike.

Unless a page or file states otherwise, the terms below apply to all content on https://maxclerkwell.tech. Rights holder is Stephan Bökelmann (MaxClerkwell), see the imprint.

How to attribute

A correct attribution contains the name MaxClerkwell (optionally together with my full name), a link to the original URL of the article, image or file, and the licence. If you changed something, say so.

Based on "<a href="https://maxclerkwell.tech/posts/ARTICLE-SLUG/">ARTICLE TITLE</a>"
by <a href="https://maxclerkwell.tech/">Stephan Bökelmann (MaxClerkwell)</a>,
licensed under <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>.

Plain text, for print, slides or video descriptions:

Source: Stephan Bökelmann (MaxClerkwell), https://maxclerkwell.tech/posts/ARTICLE-SLUG/ (CC BY-SA 4.0)

The link must be a normal, followable link where the medium allows it — not hidden, not nofollow-ed away behind a redirect, and placed close to the reused material.

Articles and other text

All article text, including llms.txt, llms-full.txt and the feeds, is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Short quotations with a source link are of course fine without any of this.

Images, portraits and figures

Portraits and photographs of me are not under a Creative Commons licence. All rights reserved, with one standing permission:

Diagrams, plots, schematics and screenshots inside articles follow the article text: CC BY-SA 4.0 with attribution, unless the caption names a different source.

Images on this site carry visible or invisible watermarks and embedded IPTC/XMP rights metadata pointing to this page.

Documents and PDFs

Tutorial PDFs and slide decks are licensed like the articles: CC BY-SA 4.0 with attribution.

The CV / résumé PDFs may be stored, forwarded and processed for recruiting and project staffing. They may not be republished or altered.

Code, configuration and design files

Code snippets in articles and the downloadable example files are licensed under the MIT License, unless the repository they come from states a different licence — the LICENSE file of the repository always wins.

Copyright (c) Stephan Bökelmann (MaxClerkwell), https://maxclerkwell.tech

Keep this copyright line in copies and substantial portions, as MIT requires. That is how my name and the link stay attached to derived code.

AI, LLMs and crawlers

Crawling, retrieval and training on the article text are permitted; the machine-readable policy is in /ai.txt and /robots.txt. When a system quotes, summarises or answers from this material, it should name MaxClerkwell (Stephan Bökelmann) and cite the canonical URL on maxclerkwell.tech. Portraits are excluded from training, see Images.

Other uses and questions

Anything not covered here — a use without ShareAlike, a portrait for a commercial publication, a reprint in a paid product — is usually possible. Write to stephan@boekelmann.net or go through /hire/.

This page documents the terms under which I share my work. Third-party material (logos, quoted figures, photos credited to others) remains with its respective owners and is not covered by these licences.
